GCM Launches Maltese-Speaking Classes to Support Cultural Integration

At Global College Malta, we believe that meaningful education extends far beyond the classroom—and it begins by truly listening to our students. That’s why we are proud to announce the launch of online Maltese-Speaking Classes, which officially began on Saturday, 9th August 2025.

These beginner-level sessions will run for the next three months and are designed to help international students and colleagues build confidence in everyday conversation and deepen their understanding of Maltese culture. It’s more than just learning a language—it’s about feeling at home in a new environment.

A Student-Led Initiative, Inspired by Student Voices

This exciting new initiative was born directly from feedback collected during our recent Orientation Day. Students shared a strong desire for greater cultural integration and support in navigating the local language—and we listened.

At GCM, we believe every student’s voice matters. And more importantly, we take action. The introduction of these Maltese classes is a clear reflection of that commitment. Our students are not just participants in their education—they are co-creators of their experience.

The classes are led by Milena Borg, a fellow student fluent in both Maltese and English. Milena has generously dedicated her time and skills to guide her peers through this learning journey. Her approachable teaching style and student perspective make her the perfect fit for leading these sessions.

At the end of the course, students will undergo two weeks of assessments focused on speaking and writing, giving them a chance to demonstrate their progress in real-world communication.

With an enrolment of over 60 students, it is clear this offering is both timely and valuable to our community. The enthusiasm surrounding the launch only reinforces the importance of culturally inclusive learning initiatives like this one.
