Biography

Coming from a background of entrepreneurial ventures, he established a company with the goal of providing assistance to the community in various ways. With his mother by his side, he founded and manages the Bir Mula Heritage Museum, a small museum which is independent and focused on educating others about the history and cultural significance of Bormla and its surrounding areas.

He began his career working in tourism, food, and manufacturing before transitioning to the postal services, initially as a postman and eventually advancing to middle management. He then took on the role of Product Manager – Marketing & Business Development, where he was responsible for launching new products and services. After going back to working for the government, he became the head of the Reconciliation Section in the Social Services Department before moving on to the Management Efficiency Unit, which is the premier management consulting firm for the Maltese government. Following participation in several simplification, innovation, and improvement initiatives across various public service and public sector organizations, he transitioned briefly to the Quality of Service Directorate within the Office of the Prime Minister as a Consultant, then to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Security, and Reform, and subsequently to the Ministry for Social and Affordable Accommodation, where he oversaw Human Resources.

Dr Vella’s academic and professional pursuits have led him to take part in a variety of courses and obtain certifications both in his home country and overseas. In addition to creating and leading courses for fellow professionals, he developed and taught modules for students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University of Malta and the Cottonera Resource Centre. He wrote research papers which were published in scholarly journals. He joined Global College Malta in 2024 lecturing at Postgraduate level.
