The Global College Malta General Intensive English course helps you reach your goals at a pace that suits you. We know that everyone’s approach to learning is different, and over the years we’ve developed teaching modules tailored to suit your individual goals. We want you to reach your full potential by learning through doing, and immersing yourself in the most inspirational settings with like-minded people.
Our General Intensive English course covers the key language learning areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening, using skills-based and situational learning combined with using one-to-one tutorials and regular progress tests to respond to the student’s individual learning needs.
The course will build your general proficiency in English and, specifically, provide you with the opportunity to improve the four main language skills: reading, speaking, listening and writing. You will learn from our qualified team of teachers who know the needs of each student and will offer personalised attention to you to help ensure you succeed!

This Award is available at six levels:

  3. Improve the participants competence in English grammar and vocabulary tasks more effectively and accurately.

Award in General Intensive English Course as a Foreign Language at Elementary Level

Award in General Intensive English Course as a Foreign Language at Intermediate Level

Overall course objectives
  1. To help develop a fluent and accurate level and knowledge of spoken and written English.
  2. Enhance the confidence of students skills when they need to discuss, analyse, ask and answer, criticise every day topics in English.
  3. Communicate by using rehearsed and learned phrases and expressions with confidence in different contexts such as casual conversations on familiar topics.
  4. Go into detail when talking about facts and ideas.
  5. Absorb the gist and the main message by identifying key details and words when having verbal, auditory and written communication. These messages are conveyed through radio broadcasts, and face to face conversations.
  6. When faced with an authentic text, the learner will be able to follow the main ideas, highlight keywords and reflect on critical details – whether it is a factual or fictional text.
  7. Write short essays or letters (around 250 words).
  8. The learners will be able to differentiate between English accents of different speakers when they speak a little bit slower and clearly than usual.
  9. The learners will be able to make use of, understand a good range of commonly used vocabulary, common phrases, and idioms..

Award in General Intensive English Course as a Foreign Language at Upper Intermediate Level

Award in General Intensive English Course as a Foreign Language at Advanced Level

Overall course objectives
    1. To help develop a fluent and accurate level and knowledge of spoken and written English.
    2. Enhance the confidence of students skills when they need to discuss, analyse, ask and answer, criticise every day topics in English.
    3. Improve the participants competence in English grammar and vocabulary tasks more effectively and accurately.

 

At C1 level, by the end of the course, students should be able:

  1. Understand, interpret, criticize, summarize and recognize the implicit meaning of any demanding, long texts which are demanding in terms of vocabulary and grammar, phrases and syntax.
  2. Without any need for very long pauses to search for vocabulary, expressions, phrases or the structure of syntax, be able to fluently and spontaneously express during planned or unplanned writings or conversations.
  3. In social, academic and professional contexts, be able to have a vast range of options at his/her disposition to select the right phrases, expressions, syntax structure and grammar forms in conversations and meetings.
  4. Be able to use and produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
