Global College Malta Celebrates the Spirit of Onam

Global College Malta came alive with colour, culture, and community spirit as students and staff came together to celebrate Onam – the traditional harvest festival of Kerala, India. Held on campus, the festivities brought a vibrant touch of South Indian heritage to the heart of Malta.

One of the key highlights of the celebration was the beautiful Pookalam – a floral arrangement made with intricate designs and bright, fragrant flowers. Students collaborated to create the artwork, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and dedication to preserving tradition even while studying abroad.

Food, as always, played a central role in the celebration. The festive meal brought everyone together, echoing the spirit of unity and generosity that Onam stands for. For many students, it was a nostalgic taste of home; for others, it was an exciting new culinary experience.

Laughter and joy filled the air as students engaged in games. From energetic competitions to simple childhood favourites, the games added a playful charm to the day. The energy continued as music played and students broke into traditional dance, celebrating the rich cultural roots of the festival.

The event served not only as a celebration of Onam but also as a reminder of the diversity and inclusivity that Global College Malta embraces. It was a day of connection, learning, and joy – a beautiful reminder that even far from home, traditions can thrive and bring people together.

Global College Malta is proud to support cultural events that promote understanding, community, and a global perspective. Here’s to many more celebrations that make the campus feel like a home away from home.
